1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Biotree (biotree.bio), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
These terms apply to all users, including visitors, free users, and Pro subscribers.
2. Description of Service
Biotree is a web-based bio link tool. It lets you create a public profile page with links to your social media, websites, and projects. Your page is accessible at a unique URL (e.g. yourname.biotree.bio for Pro users or biotree.bio/your-page-id for free users).
We provide a dashboard to manage your page, track analytics (page views and link clicks), and customise your page’s appearance.
3. Account Registration
To use Biotree, you must create an account using a valid email address. You agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information
- Keep your login credentials secure
- Maintain only one account per person
- Be at least 13 years old to use the service
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
4. User Content
You are solely responsible for the content you upload to Biotree, including your profile photo, display name, bio text, and links.
Ownership. You retain full ownership of your content.
License. By uploading content, you grant Biotree a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display, host, and distribute that content as part of the service (e.g. rendering your public page). This licence ends when you delete your content or account.
Restrictions. You must not upload content that is illegal, defamatory, infringing on intellectual property rights, sexually explicit involving minors, or otherwise harmful.
5. Public Pages
Biotree pages are publicly accessible by design. Anyone with your page URL can view your display name, profile photo, bio, and links.
By creating a Biotree page, you understand and consent to this public visibility. If you do not want information to be public, do not add it to your page.
6. Showcase Feature
Biotree may feature a curated selection of user pages on a public showcase page. You will only be included if you explicitly opt in via your settings.
You can opt out at any time, and your page will be removed from the showcase. Biotree reserves the right to select which opted-in pages are featured and may remove pages from the showcase at its sole discretion.
7. Free and Pro Tiers
Free tier. Includes core features: create a page, add links (up to the free limit), choose a style and background, and access basic analytics.
Pro tier ($5/month). Includes unlimited links, featured links, link icons, link subtitles, social icons, a custom subdomain (yourname.biotree.bio), removal of Biotree branding, and priority support.
Billing. Pro subscriptions are billed monthly via Stripe. You can cancel at any time from your settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are issued for partial months.
Promotional codes. From time to time, Biotree may offer promotional codes (e.g. Founding 50) that grant Pro access under specific terms. The terms of each promotion are described at the time of the offer and may include conditions such as limited availability or lifetime access.
Affiliate links and commissions. Biotree may allow you to add affiliate IDs for supported partner programs. When enabled, Biotree may append your IDs to matching outbound links. You are solely responsible for providing valid IDs, complying with each affiliate network’s rules, and making any legally required disclosure to your audience (for example, marking affiliate or sponsored links where required). Biotree does not guarantee third-party tracking, approval, or payout outcomes.
8. Prohibited Use
You agree not to use Biotree to:
- Distribute spam, phishing links, or malware
- Host or link to illegal content
- Promote, advertise, or link to online gambling, sports betting, casino services, or fraudulent, deceptive, or high-risk financial schemes, regardless of legality in your jurisdiction
- Impersonate another person or entity
- Scrape, crawl, or access the service via automated means without permission
- Harass, abuse, or threaten other users
- Use the service primarily as a link shortener or redirect service
- Create pages primarily to generate backlinks, manipulate search engine rankings, or participate in link schemes, link farms, private blog networks, or comparable search-manipulation practices
- Create pages in bulk, whether manually or by automated means, for the purpose of link placement or search engine optimisation
- Sell, rent, exchange, or otherwise offer placement of links on Biotree pages to third parties
- Create or operate pages on behalf of a third party for the purpose of influencing that party’s search engine rankings
- Interfere with the operation of the service or its infrastructure
- Circumvent any limits or restrictions of the free tier
- Sell, advertise, or promote counterfeit goods, replicas, or unauthorised copies of branded products
- Impersonate or falsely represent an affiliation with any brand, company, or organisation
On links and search engines. Linking to your own website, work, projects, or social profiles is ordinary and intended use of Biotree, and nothing above restricts it. The prohibition applies to pages whose purpose is to influence search engine rankings rather than to serve as a genuine link-in-bio page for a real person, business, or organisation.
Biotree reserves the right to suspend or permanently remove any page that violates these terms, without prior notice. Where pages appear to form part of a coordinated network — for example pages created in bulk, sharing common link targets, or operated by the same person or group — we may suspend or remove all affected pages and accounts together. Decisions regarding page removal are made at Biotree’s sole discretion and are final.
9. Termination
By you. You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page. This permanently deletes your page, profile data, and analytics. If you have a Pro subscription, you should cancel it before deleting your account.
By Biotree. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, without prior notice. In cases of serious or repeated violations, we may permanently ban you from the service.
10. Limitation of Liability
Biotree is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We are not liable for any loss of data, revenue, or damages arising from your use of the service, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid to Biotree in the 12 months preceding the claim.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or an in-app notification. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of Biotree will be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
